Bedrock "Ode to Lulu" Rosé 2024
The Bedrock "Ode to Lulu" Rosé offers vibrant aromas of strawberry, watermelon, and citrus zest. On the palate, it's crisp and refreshing, with flavors of ripe red fruits, subtle herbs and a touch of minerality, leading to a clean, lively finish. A delicious, perfectly dry rosé.
"Ode to Lulu" is Bedrock's "ode" to Lulu Peyraud of Domaine Tempier in Provence, who makes one of the world's finest Mourvedre-based rosés. A blend of 76% Mourvedre, 16% Syrah and 8% Grenache, this rosé is endlessly drinkable and similar in style to some of the classic Provençal rosés. There's enough flavor to hold up to a meal, but absolutely delicious on its own.
From dry farmed, truly old vines planted between the 1880s and 1921. From Contra Costa County and Sonoma County, the backbone of this wine is ancient Mataro (Mourvedre) that lends concentration and density of fruit (surprisingly so, given the pale hue). All fruit was whole cluster pressed with native yeasts fermentation and bone dry. Superb winemaking, great vineyard sources and old Mediterranean grape varieties planted in California are the keys to producing this sensational rose. Don’t miss it! It should drink well for several years.
