Billecart-Salmon Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne
Billecart-Salmon Blanc de Blancs is a cuvée made entirely from the Chardonnay grape variety from the four Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger. The blend is made from two great years. Pale straw in color, the nose is clean and pure, with a sun-kissed ripeness, and reveals fresh aromatics of candied green apple, lime, and bread dough. The mousse is elegant, and the wine is ripe, with a rounded feel, and fresh with ripe green apple, lemon-lime, and chalk, followed by a balanced and fairly long finish. It is straight-forward, approachable and classic.
The Billecart family has been living in Mareuilsur-Aÿ since the 16th century. Nicolas Francois Billecart married Elisabeth Salmon in the early 1800s, and the families’ longstanding vineyards were married as well, and Billecart-Salmon was founded in 1818. Today it is the longest-standing family-owned Champagne house, managed by brothers Francois and Antoine Roland Billecart.
