Casa Mariol Garnatxa Blanca Ecologic 2023

Casa Mariol Garnatxa Blanca is transparent straw yellow with greenish hues and a vibrant nose of wild flowers, citrus, orange blossom and green apple. Bright and light on the palate, the wine is fresh and textured with balanced acidity, full mouthfeel and a long finish.

Made from a mix of old and young vines grown on sandy and chalky soils around Batea and Gandesa, the grapes are harvested by hand early to retain the grape’s natural acidity. It is fermented by indigenous yeasts and aged on the fine lees three months in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness.

Casa Mariol is a family winery in Terra Alta that has been producing wine for three generations. Established in 1945 by Josep Maria Bes and Josefina Aguiló, their children Josep Vaquer, and Emília Llop took over in 1971. Today the third and current generation, Josep Maria, Miquel Àngel and Marta Vaquer, manage the winery. The winery is located in Batea, Terra Alta, a small region in the south of Catalonia. At Casa Mariol, they produce single-varietal wines and vermouths from their 50 hectares of vineyards, as well as other local small farmers. Their focus is on sustainability and both their Garnatxa Blanca and their Garnatxa Negra are certified organic and vegan. Each varietal bottling has a different color on the label art with a distinct design by German art director Mirko Borsche.
