La Petite Tour de Bessan Margaux is a distinguished Bordeaux blend of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, characterized by a balanced composition that tempers its richness with freshness. On the nose, the wine offers up aromas of mandarin liqueur, apricot, peach, lemon curd, white flowers and sweet spicy scents of vanilla with hints of oak and a pastry note. The rich, generous palate shows bright black-currant, tobacco and spice with wonderful acidity, an elegant core of tannins and a beautifully lingering finish.

The Tour de Bessan property originated from a 13th-century tower located in Soussans. Today, only simple vestiges remain of this ancient stronghold intended to protect Lord Jehan Colomb during his stays on his lands. This building remained in the Colomb family until 1390, then several illustrious local families succeeded it: the Durforts, the Garros, then the Lords of Mons in 1488. Their last heiress, Thérèse, married the son of the great writer Montesquieu in 1740. The title of Lord of Soussans was retained until the French Revolution by their descendants.

It was in 1972 that Lucien Lurton bought the tower and the vineyard from the Clauzel family. The new owner then made every effort to establish the wine estate while supervising his other properties. In 1992, his daughter Marie-Laure took over the management. A graduate in oenology and with six years of experience on her father's properties, she has a perfect knowledge of each of the plots that make up the estate.

Her first investments were devoted to the vineyard: raising the trellises to increase the leaf surface, co-planting, uprooting and replanting. Investments also concerned technical installations: in 1999, the rehabilitation of a 1934 building allowed the installation of an ergonomic vat room, a barrel cellar and a tasting room.

The High Environmental Value certification guarantees agriculture that integrates and develops biodiversity and limits inputs as much as possible in the management of the farm. In 2003, the Terra Vitis certification recognized compliance with the specifications for sustainable vineyard protection. Since then, every vintage has received Terra Vitis certification.
