Domaine Duseigneur Lirac Antares 2021
Crushed stone, cranberry and red cherry notes in this ripe but restrained blend of Grenache (60%) and Mourvèdre (40%). Sourced from biodynamic fruit, it’s a full-bodied, concentrated wine that maintains remarkable vibrance and acidity throughout. Fine-grained tannins accentuate its youthful appeal.
Harvested by hand, de-stemmed and lightly pressed. Indigenous yeasts only, vinifications of the two grapes happens separately in cement vats. Mourvèdre is aged in the traditional ‘demi-muids’ used in the Rhône Valley (600L old oak barrels) of for 12 months, while the Grenache is kept in cement vats.
Antarès is a selection of vines located on hillsides facing North, at the Western end of the Lirac appellation, at an altitude of 160m. The soils are deep sands and sandstones. Antarès is named after the main star of the constellation of Scorpio. One of the basic principles of biodynamics is to work in harmony with cosmic rhythms.
