Fürst Spätburgunder Bürgstadter Franken 2022

A gentle burnt aroma with a hint of struck match, savoury yeast, fine smoke, as well as a hint of cherry and clove. A soft onset to the palate with plenty of body, followed by some spice and firm, supportive acidity. The tannins are powerful and perfectly integrated.

What a Pinot Noir! On the nose, cherries, red currants, rosewood, raspberries - all elegantly interwoven and underlined by a delicate minerality. On the palate, a silky-matte texture, ultra-fine acidity, harmonious tannins, intense fruit with sour cherry and a hint of lemon zest, everything plays perfectly together like in an orchestra, intense and yet with an uncanny lightness. 

Rudolf Fürst, "an acknowledged Pinot magician in Germany," as the grande dame of wine critics Jancis Robinson called him a while ago, shows what his wines can express in the great locations. The local Pinot Noir Bürgstadter casts a spell over you with its elegant rosewood and sour cherry aroma. The dark spice of graphite and cloves forms a dense liaison with the scent of red berries (raspberry and currant). On the palate, a distinctive acidity that always remains on the fruity side, reminiscent of the broth of pickled sour cherries. Surprisingly juicy for this vintage, in which the Pinot Noir in particular had a hard time. An incredibly fine, elegant drop that will delight in the not too distant future.
