Garden Path "The Vinaceous Endeavor Forth" Wild Ale
This wild blonde ale was fermented in an oak foudre with native yeast, refermented with Pinot Noir grape must in the fall of 2021 and aged in Copperworks gin barrels, then bottle-conditioned with honey. That sounds like a lot, and it is, but it's crazy cohesive. The nose is striking, a little white vinegar pucker up front, lemon and the tannic fruit right alongside some bright botanical gin character. Lightly tart with bright, herbal aromatics, the bone-dry beer is an incredibly deceptive 9.0% ABV. Quite floral, with spruce and and lime juice, sharp white wine and some sweetness from the honey. A very unique beer!
Garden paths take you from point A to B, while letting nature flourish in the cracks between steps. Though the paths may not be direct, they do lead you to somewhere spectacular, and sometimes unexpected. This idea is what led founders Ron Extract and Amber Watts to go with the name Garden Path Fermentation.
Garden Path is located in Skagit Valley, WA, but Ron and Amber developed their passion for all things fermentation at Jester King Brewery in Dripping Springs, TX. Ron was an owner and manager while Amber managed the tasting room and front office. Garden Path ferments their beer, cider, mead and wine locally, using only hyper-local ingredients. From farm and garden to barrel and bottle, Garden Path prides itself on celebrating the abundance of Skagit Valley in every bottle or can they produce.
