La Valentía Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Sea spray and white flowers balance poached pear, lemon preserve, white peach, flint and a fresh grassiness. This wine is the epitome of delicacy, coming in whisps rather than at once, then gliding onto the palate with elegance and a refined salinity that is perfect alongside food. The fruit is balanced with a hint of savory.
The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc come from Dell Valley Vineyard in Hudspeth County, Texas, which is said to show a brilliant expression of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with classic bright fruit and marked salinity from the lime deposits which remain from its time as an ancient ocean bed. Originally planted in 1987, the Sauvignon Blanc vines at Dell Valley are thick and deeply rooted in the sandy, caliche type soils of Texas.
La Valentía Sauvignon Blanc was awarded both a gold medal and Texas Reserve Class Champion in the Sauvignon Blanc category at the inaugural 2025 Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Vine 2 Wine International Competition, where nearly 700 wines were submitted to be judged.
La Valentía is an offshoot brand by Texas winemaker Rae Wilson under her winery Wine For the People, meant for exploring the rich and diverse terroir of Texas through elegant, limited-production wines perfect for celebrating or cellaring.
One of few female winemakers in Texas, Wilson is a food & wine industry veteran whose journey from sommelier to winemaker took her from Napa Valley to Portugal and many cellars in between. Rae founded Wine For the People in 2010, released her flagship vintage of Dandy Rosé in 2014, and expanded with La Valentía wines in 2019. Utilizing sustainable farming, and minimal intervention winemaking, La Valentía is dedicated to exploring true Texas terroir.
