L'Épicurieux Gamayléon Beaujolais-Lantignié 2019
Deep red. Spice-accented red currant and strawberry aromas show fine detail and pick up hints of lavender and game with air. Taut and focused on the palate, offering juicy red fruit and floral pastille flavors that show a refreshingly bitter edge on the back half. Closes taut and long, with resonating spiciness and just a whisper of delicate tannins.
The second vintage with the Beaujolais-Lantignié label (before was simply Beaujolais-Villages). 60-80-year-old vines on bluestone at 400 metres altitude. A deep, almost creamy red fruit. In terms of aroma, think of Julien Sunier – very attractive. Vibrant, with a hint of gas. Direct and intense, too. Super fresh, vibrant finish.
Farmed organically, fermented on wild yeasts, no sulphur added. The winemaker is moving towards biodynamic certification and has recently acquired the new French natural wine certification "Vin Methode Nature." All of his wines are vinified the same way to really express the difference in the soils.
