Nada Giuseppe Barbaresco Casot DOCG 2020

Showing an earthy elegance and brownish-red hue, the Nada 2020 Casot is full-bodied and delicious. Made with organically farmed grapes, it opens with heady aromas of forest floor, new leather, pressed rose, wild berry and spice that give way to dark, dried cherry with depths of balsam, orange peel, licorice and mint on the elegantly-structured, dense palate. A backbone of fine-grained tannins and bright acidity keep it balanced. Very polished, persistent finish despite the muscularity. This wine delivers in all aspects. A wine to add to your collection. Its best expression will be 6-8 years after bottling and increases over time to 25-30 years.

Extremely classic winemaking if not old-fashioned. Pressing and alcoholic fermentation with natural yeasts without added sulphites. Fermentation done at higher temperatures to facilitate the extraction of tannins and anthocyanins. Continuation of maceration with the submerged cap technique for 40-50 days, as per our traditional style. Racking with some decanting to eliminate the natural sediments, then aged in large oak for two years, then another 7-8 months in the bottle. A wine of exceptional finesse, never covered by woody notes in compliance with the traditional style of production.

Antonio Nada purchased land in the locality of Casot, a historical geographical mention (MGA) of Barbaresco, in 1900. pronounced ca-zot with a hard t, like hot, Casot has been owned by the Nada family for over 120 years. The third generation, Nada Giuseppe, began cultivation of Nebbiolo in 1960 and produced the first Barbaresco in 1963.
