Paul Benoit Blanc du Jura Melon d’Arbois 2022
"Melon d'Arbois" is the Jura region's name for Chardonnay, and this Melon beautifully represents the unique character of Chardonnay grown in Jura. Deep yellow color, super savory, with yellow and bruised apples, honeysuckle and hint of mushrooms and walnuts. The medium-bodied palate is dominated by a beautiful salty mineral acidity, with the fruit balancing it.
Hand-harvested and destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts in neutral oak, aged 15 months in neutral barrels, with 10% in stainless steel vats.
After working in different areas of the Jura, Paul Benoit decided to set up his business in the town of Pupillin in 1976, with three hectares cultivated on different soils. Little by little, as opportunities arose, he expanded the vineyard as well as the range of wines offered.
Christophe Benoit joined the estate in 2000, after having completed an “oeno viti” training in Beaune. Today, the estate has 13 hectares spread over the best slopes of Arbois and Pupillin. Paul and Christophe believe much more in the quality of the soil and the grapes than in the material. The cellar is filled with traditional local foudres for aging red wines and barriques for white wines.
