Timothée Delalle "La Burette" 2022
A typical Loire Valley red blend of Gamay (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%), this fresh and fruity red is a clear, dark reddish-purple wine with a thin garnet edge. A luscious strawberry and cherry scent leaps from the glass, with an elusive hint of espresso behind them. Red-fruit flavors follow through on the palate with fruit so juicy that it almost seems as sweet as a ripe strawberry, but fresh-fruit acidity provides necessary structure and holds it in balance. This wine is perfect for everyday sipping, quite food friendly and meant to be drunk immediately.
Timothée Delalle is a new producer in the Loire Valley. He trained for years in Geneva, Switzerland as well as under the late Loire winemaker, Jacky Blot of Tailles Aux Loups and Domaine de la Butte. Home is a vineyard just west of the city of Tours and Vouvray in the Loire Valley. He makes just 8000 bottles of wine a year and they quickly sell out. He makes excellent examples of the standard varieties grown in the Loire. One of the most talked about winemakers in France at the moment, we clearly have much to expect still from Delalle.
