Linear and medium-bodied, it is focused on the palate, with black raspberry, cherry and white pepper, refreshing acidity, dusty tannins and energetic drive through the finish. Istine is a small, family-run estate in Radda in Chianti, farmed organically by Angela Fronti, one of Tuscany’s rising stars. The Chianti Classico is 100% Sangiovese, sourced from high-altitude vineyards (450–600m) in Radda, Gaiole and Castellina. These sites, planted on galestro and alberese soils, produce wines of finesse and vibrant acidity. The soil is rich in rocky fragments, with alternating layers of marly limestone (Alberese and Galestro) and varying percentages of clay. The 2022 vintage in Chianti was warm but balanced by cool nights, giving ripe fruit with freshness and precision.
