Pielihueso Naranjo 2023
Beautifully aromatic with rich notes of guava, orange peel, lime and mango. Mouth-watering, light-to-medium body, medium-to-high acidity.
A white blend of 40% Torrontes, 30% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Chardonnay grown on the same vineyard. Organically farmed in Los Chacayes, Uco Valley. Planted in 2009 at 4200 feet elevation. Native yeast, co-fermented in stainless steel and concrete. Four months on the skins. Unfined, unfiltered.
Pielihueso is a young wine project from the Bartolomé family, born in Los Chacayes, with the goal of making minimally intervening wines, wines that evoke emotion and surprise. "Pielihueso" is Spanish for “skin and bones.” The name refers to the quest to showcase the place and the grape as honestly as possible, to reveal the pit.
This estate began in 2017 when father/daughter combo Celina and Alejandro Bartolome planted vines in Los Chacayes and Los Sauces (both subregions of the Uco Valley located within Tunuyan). The wines are all farmed organically and made with no intervention, fermented with native yeast, and a low addition of sulfur is added just before bottling.
Alejandro comes from a long background in organic farming and this is the family’s first foray into wine. The labels were created by the family, too! Carmela, the other daughter designed the labels from their brother’s artwork. The wineries style is making light, bright, clean and vibrant wines!
