Txampian Txakoli Rosado glows a soft pink with a lively, delicate effervescence and enticing aromas of grapefruit, fresh raspberry and nectarine zest. The palate is bright and refreshing, layering tangy citrus, red berries and vivid green herbal notes with chalky minerality and a distinctive saline finish. Its surprisingly round, almost unctuous texture is balanced by incisive acidity and a subtle hint of sweetness, making this versatile rosé a natural match for seafood, tapas or just about anything coming off the summer table.

Made from equal parts Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza, this rosé comes from steep, pergola-trained hillside vineyards in Zarautz within Spain’s Getariako Txakolina appellation. The vines grow in sandy, chalky loam under the cool, rainy Atlantic climate overlooking the Bay of Biscay. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected before undergoing a short cold maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine then spends six months on its lees in stainless steel, developing added texture while preserving its fresh fruit, lively acidity and coastal character.

Txampian is a natural wine project produced in partnership with the fifth-generation Eizaguirre family, the sisters behind Talai Berri, whose roots in Basque winemaking run deep. The family’s vineyards are managed using environmentally conscious integrated production methods adapted to the region’s exceptionally wet climate, including grazing sheep to control vineyard grasses and fallen leaves. The name “Txampian,” pronounced “Champion,” honors the family’s beloved dogs Txampi and Bacco, adding a playful touch to a wine that captures the freshness, personality and maritime spirit of the Basque Country.
