It is on the surface is a fun wine, but hiding in the depths is a brooding root veg earthiness. So feel free to soak in the sunny, warm shallow waters, it’s nice there – but if curiosity pulls you to the deep end you may be rewarded with the earthly delights of Oregon terroir. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBig Salt “Orange Rose” is a nearly equal blend of ramato style Pinot Gris and Big Salt Oregon White (which is a blend of Muscat and Gewurztraminer), fermented and aged in neutral barrel. The Big Salt components that went into barrel saw anywhere from either hours of skin contact up to three days. The combination of these production methods results in a wine that doesn’t look or smell like a rosé, but it isn’t as funky or extracted as an orange wine. It lives somewhere in between... or beyond?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFounded by husband-and-wife duo John House and Ksenija Kostic, Big Salt Wine Co. is a celebration of the diverse expressions of Oregon terroir. They source grapes from a range of sites across the state, but the unifying factor is their winemaking. All of their wines are made with native yeast fermentations in neutral oak and acacia barrels and Nomblot concrete eggs, with extended lees contact and no additions or subtractions apart from a small amount of sulfur.
