Their origins are a long history, dating back to 1486 -- 22 generations of winemaking. Can Vallés is based in the region of Penedès, in Catalonia. The mountains of the region look on to the estate, which sits in a basin between the foothills and the Mediterranean Sea. The vineyards sit at 400m above sea level and soils are calcareous, with a mix of clay and well-draining stony terrain. They practice dry farming for water retention. The core philosophy of the family starts in the vineyards with biodynamic principles.
