Delinquente "Tuff Nutt" Bianco Pét-Nat 2024
This year is truly a classic interpretation of Delinquente's flagship wine. Vibrant yellow in the glass and Meyer lemon curd and green apple on the nose, there is this beautiful, pithy bubbly tingle which is so fun to drink. Boozy Schweppes bitter lemon, with length and utter drinkability, this is Tuff Nutt at their best.
Fermented in stainless steel with wild vineyard yeast, the wine was bottled under crown seal to finish ferment, resulting in the Pétillant Naturel, lightly sparkling style. The Sherwood Estate in Loxton North, owned by the Proud family, has the only planting of Bianco d’Alessano in Australia, grapes normally only grown in Puglia in Southern Italy. It's a late ripening, aromatic variety that holds acid beautifully and is completely at home in the hot dry Riverland climate.
Delinquente makes organically grown, small batch, minimal intervention wines with Southern Italian grape varieties grown in the Riverland, South Australia, and fermented with wild yeast.
Each of Delinquente's wines has associated delinquent characters, with unique tattoos and peculiar back stories, that add to a broader story about independence, resistance and justice. They dare to represent the spirit of the delinquent, the story of the rebel. This speaks to Delinquente's approach to winemaking and community-building. Their motivation is about carving a new path and doing what’s right. Read Tuff Nutt's story.
