Beneath, subtle notes of ropa vieja, sunbaked clay and a hint of dusty leather saddle evoke the wine’s earthy, Western spirit. The medium-bodied, expressive palate offers flavors of red currant, tomato leaf and warm spice with lively acidity and fine tannins. The a long, graceful and savory finish reveals a lingering sense of warmth and texture that nods to both Tuscany and Texas.
100% Sangiovese, all hand-picked at Walker Vineyards in the Texas High Plains, "Spaghetti Western" captures the rugged elegance of the Texas High Plains, drawing inspiration from both Old World tradition and bold, Western flair. Perfect for those who appreciate the adventurous spirit of Texas winemaking paired with the classic sophistication of Italian varietals. Best paired with "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly."
The 2023 growing season across the Texas High Plains showcased the resilience of this region’s vineyards. A cool, wet spring refreshed the soils and canopy after years of drought pressure, setting the stage for balanced growth. As summer advanced, persistent heat and wind accelerated ripening, resulting in smaller berries with excellent concentration and natural acidity.
Walker Vineyards, situated at elevation and exposed to strong diurnal shifts, delivered Sangiovese of remarkable intensity and character. The fruit achieved full phenolic ripeness under careful canopy management and selective picking, capturing both the savory depth and red-fruited vibrancy emblematic of the variety.
The season demanded precision and restraint, and the result is a wine that reflects both the rugged terrain and the patient hand of its growers. 225 cases produced.
