Figli Luigi Oddero’s "Convento" Barolo weaves Piedmont’s timeless elegance. Sourced from La Morra’s sun-drenched slopes, this organic Nebbiolo radiates purity. Its ruby glow hints at refined power, crafted with a 25-day maceration and two years in Slavonian oak. Convento emphasizes purity of fruit over structure, with a lifted mineral streak of lovely clarity. That said, it is still very much a traditional Barolo in the style of Oddero, bearing no trace of oak aromatics or wood tannins, and with a perfume simultaneously ethereal and savory. It’s approachable yet structured, perfect for intimate dinners or cellaring.

With 32 hectares of vineyards across Barolo and Barbaresco, including a prized single hectare in the grand cru Vignarionda, Figli Luigi Oddero stands among the essential names in the Langhe. The estate’s wines are made traditionally, farmed organically and crafted by a team with direct lineage to Barolo’s most hallowed modern voices.

Located in Santa Maria di La Morra, Figli Luigi Oddero is a historic pillar of Piedmont, established as an independent estate in 2006, following a split of the original 18th-century family holdings. Under the leadership of Luigi’s widow, Lena, and their children, the winery has gained significant acclaim for its traditionalist philosophy and the expertise of renowned winemaker Dante Scaglione. The name “Convento” is a nod to the fact that their estate was a convent in the early 17th centruy.

Farming across the Luigi estate has been certified organic since 2014, prioritizing soil health and biodiversity through sustainable practices like cover-cropping and manual harvesting. In the cellar, the winemaking approach is intentionally low-intervention, utilizing spontaneous fermentation in cement tanks and aging in large, neutral Slavonian oak botti to ensure the terroir and fruit purity remain the focal point of every bottle. These are wines built for evolution, not immediacy—structured, balanced and unmanipulated.
