The Marigny "White Ferrari" Skin Contact White 2024
A versatile skin contact white that blends highly aromatic, textured fruit with notes of apricot, blood orange, tropical fruit and clementine peel. Bright, briny and saline, the wine is highly aromatic with a soft, floral nose and citrus-forward flavors, including grapefruit and passion fruit. Fun and crushable but still serious enough to feel intentional.
This single vineyard bottling was farmed organically in a vineyard certified organic by Oregon Tilth (Pinot Gris) and two sites farmed organic without certification (Savignon Blanc and Chardonnay). 14 days of carbonic maceration in stainless steel on the Sauvignon Blanc, which was pressed to older, neutral-flavored French oak. SO2 added after malolactic was complete. A blend of Pinot Gris and Chardonnay was assembled into 10% of the total volume and racked to stainless steel two weeks before bottling without additional SO2.
The Marigny winemaker Andrew Reginald Young left behind a career as a New Orleans rock drummer in 2012 to make low-intervention wines from cooler climate vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley. He works with a lot of carbonic maceration to keep the wines light, all fermented with native yeasts and minimal intervention in the winery.
