This fresh & satisfying Montepulciano is intense ruby red with purple reflections. Aromas of berry jam, spice and fresh almond lead to a full and tannic palate with a refreshing finish.

Montepulciano is the most cultivated vine in Abruzzo with varying origin stories. The most reliable one is linked to the Medici, who in their Barony of Carapelle (17th century) transferred vine cultivation techniques and propagation material from Tuscany. The exchanges between Carapelle and Tuscany were not limited to the vine but also to the excellent wool, which was transferred from the peaks of the Apennines to Florence from where, once processed, it was sold throughout Europe. A flagship of the territory, its grapes produced a wine with a strong qualitative imprint, a deep and lively color, a dense aroma with typical cherry notes and a complex bouquet.

Cantina Orsogna was formed as a cooperative of 600 farmers in 1964, who all shared the same goal of conservation and a reverence for organic and biodynamic winemaking. This came in hand with the place - Majella National Park, one of the largest and most diverse parks in all of Italy. The farmers settled here to aid in their mission and have not looked back. The Spiritus Terrae project is dedicated to the great quality and beauty of Italian native vines and their special terroirs. Each vine has its own unique and exciting story to tell.
