Bodega 202 "Solasta" Rioja 2019

Great aromatic intensity, dominated by ripe blackberries and blueberries and fresh plums and red fruit. Characterized by a floral and mineral character, with spicy and balsamic notes of menthol and liquorice. Great aromatic complexity and freshness.

This Tempranillo is sourced from two Rioja vineyards at 580 and 700 meters, both situated on calcareous, clay soils and certified organic. Each plot is vinified separately. Aged 12 months in a mix of French and American oak. Unfiltered and unfined.

Founded in 2014 by Francis and Kathleen Rooney, Bodega 202 makes small-batch vintages from old, high-altitude vineyards, focusing on quality over quantity. Today, the Bodega is managed by the Rooneys’ son, Michael, and Luis Guemes, winemaker and general manager. Bodega 202 is located just outside of the medieval, fortified town of Laguardia, in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa.
