Castello di Verduno Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2023
Clear ruby red color with an intense floral nose, showing pretty red fruit, wild strawberries, orange peel, violets and roses, with subtle and elegant spices. Medium-bodied, youthful and crunchy on the palate, with good intensity, bright fruit, a touch of earth and approachable, lightly chalky tannins. The finish is clean and graceful, making this charming wonderfully easy to drink.
Made from Nebbiolo grapes from prime sites like Faset and Rabajà, this is a preview of Barolo/Barbaresco quality in a more approachable style and price. Farmed organically, 35 days maceration, controlled low temperature fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts. Aged 32 months in large Slavonian botti, six months in bottle. No fining or filtering. 3,000 bottles produced annually.
Verduno is one of the lesser-known villages in the Barolo zone, but makes for some of its most beautiful, delicate and fresh expressions. The Castello di Verduno, owned by Gabriella Burlotto and Franco Bianco, is a beautiful old building at the top of the village of Verduno, on the edge of the Barolo zone. The Castello di Verduno wine label unites two cellars, one under the castle in the Barolo zone and the other near the famous 'cru' Rabajà, in the Barbaresco area. Wines are produced in Barbaresco and bottled and stored in Verduno.
