Il Borro "Pian Di Nova" Toscana Rosso IGT 2022
"Pian di Nova" Rosso is particularly fresh and direct, offering aromas of ripe cherries, wild berries, orange peel, leather and forest floor. On the palate, full-bodied and intense, with a real sense of brigthness and energy in terms of its primary fruit. A well-balanced acidity and silky tannins provide structure and length. Notes of red fruit, toasted oak, licorice and earthy spices linger on the smooth, velvety finish. Enjoyable now, this wine will also reward cellaring for several years.
"Pian di Nova" can be translated to "New Plateau" or "New Frontier," evocative of the unique mix for this Super Tuscan, 75% Syrah and 25% Sangiovese. The wine is a blend of carefully selected grapes grown in the vineyards of the estate, which are known for their unique terroir and favorable microclimate. The winemaking process involves traditional techniques, including hand-harvesting and aging in oak barrels, which results in a wine with a rich and complex flavor profile. Certified organic, biodynamic in practice.
Rumours of the Etruscans buzz throughout the vineyards, but concrete records of Il Borro date back to 1254, when the Mscagni family purchased the castle of Il Borro and the surrounding land. Ownership has changed many times, seeing royalty and the ambitious roam its halls. In 1993 Ferruccio Ferragomo purchased the estate, and his son Salvatore now leads as CEO.
