Judith Beck "Beck Ink" 2022
Named Ink for its deep, dark color, Judith Beck has crafted a red blend that is as bold as it is easy to enjoy. A core of juicy blackberries and dark cherries, complemented by hints of earth, cracked black pepper, currant and stone notes and a touch of cocoa. It's light and lively, with fine intensity and a lingering aftertaste of fruit and earth. Rich, silky tannins give this wine strength and a medium body keeps it fresh.
A blend of biodynamically-farmed, hand-harvested St. Laurent and Zweigelt grapes grown in Burgenland, Austria. Beck Ink is made with spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional sulfites. Vegan.
For over 15 years, Judith Beck's estate has been certified biodynamic, promoting soil health through the formation of humus. Once the manual harvest is done, the vinification process is minimally invasive and avoids the use of chemicals at any stage of production. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and finally, the wine is bottled without fining or filtering.
As one of the key figures in turning Burgenland into an epicenter of innovation and tradition in viticulture, her rosé wine Judith Beck Pink perfectly captures the essence and terroir of this fascinating region. A blend of two of the most representative indigenous varieties that is simply delightful.
