Les Lunes Old Vine Carignane 2024
A high-toned, petal-packed and precious old vine Cali Carignan. Light as a feather, driftwood, purple petals, haskap berries, high tones of cranberry ice cream drizzled in sour lemon oil & a gentle unctuousness which coats the mouth.
100% Carignan from Mendocino County, California, featuring grapes from organically dry-farmed, 80-year-old vines, made with partial whole-cluster fermentation for spice and savory dark fruit, offering a balanced, complex profile with spicy, fruity notes.
The owners of Les Lunes Wine lease their own vineyards, work their own vines and built their own cellar. They're blazing their own trail like the pioneering winemakers of California. Their goal is to grow and make wines that pay respect to the great wines of California’s past.
They do very little in the cellar, because they spend time in the vineyards. Proper pruning, precise suckering, well-timed treatments and thoughtful weed management lets them minimize pesticide use, which allows them to preserve the indigenous microbes on the grapes and in the soils, which leads to healthier and more complex wines that don’t need adjusting or stabilizing.
