Arnot-Roberts Rosé 2024
This unique rosé is a vibrant coral and rose quartz color with bright aromas of white peaches, melon, citrus and dried herbs. The complex, textured palate is bursting with fresh orchard fruits, juicy melon, citrus rind, tart strawberries, dried herbs and an elegant mineral salinity.
A blend of majority Touriga Nacional, with Tinta Cão, Trincadeira, and Grenache, all from different vineyards, the grapes are crushed by foot and allowed to macerate a bit to give light color. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with native yeasts, then the wines are blended and aged together.
The grapes come from two incredible sites: Luchsinger and St. Amant Vineyards. The rocky, volcanic site enjoys a warm growing season suitable to Touriga Nacional. Touriga is a late-ripening grape that needs some heat to mature and the Luchsinger site is a perfect match for this hearty variety. This vineyard, farmed by the Spencer family since 1972, is composed of sandy granitic loam, and benefits from cool air descending the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains which helps moderate ripening.
Arnot-Roberts Wines is a collaboration between childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts. They have become one of the most progressive and revolutionary producers in California, leading the way to help redefine what California wine can be. Their production methods feature generous use of whole clusters, native fermentations, very limited use of new oak and modest alcohol levels.
