Elisa Guerin Beaujolais-Villages Rouge 2024

Elisa Guerin Beaujolais-Villages 2024 presents a vibrant expression of the Gamay grape from the renowned Beaujolais region. This ruby red gem tantalizes the senses with a bouquet bursting with the fragrance of ripe berries, delicate floral notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is smooth and balanced, showcasing flavors of cherry, raspberry and a touch of earthiness. Its refreshing acidity and soft tannins make it an ideal pairing with any dish that needs a burst of fruit and acidity. Lovely and charming.

The organic grapes were purchased from two growers in cool climates: Quincié-en-Beaujolais, with blue schist and limestone soil on a northern exposure, and Lantignié, with granitic sandy soil on a high southeast exposure at 400m. Traditional Beaujolais fermentation took place with indigenous yeast and carbonic maceration of whole clusters to obtain an enzymatic fermentation to develop fresh, fruity and soft aromas. Minimal mechanical intervention. Soft pump over, twice during the fermentation. No punch-downs. Slow press.

Elisa Guerin grew up playing in the Moulin-à-Vent countryside with childhood friends Alex Foillard and Ophelie Dutraive. Naturally, after her studies, she found her way back to wine. When he father handed over the reigns of their family holdings in 2019, she began the full transition to organic viticulture. 

Elisa delivers a fresh new vision for Moulin-à-Vent and a reminder of how noble a grape Gamay can be. She crafts not only joyous wines for early drinking—full of violet, cherry and wilted roses—but also intense yet harmonious, ageworthy wines with notes of undergrowth and steeped black tea that provide tannin and structure. The Guérin family holdings reintroduce a prestigious terroir that is a revelation to even the most knowledgeable Beaujolais consumer.
