Emme Wines "For You, Anything" Carignan 2023
“For You, Anything” is a perfect vehicle to showcase Carignan’s more delicate and elegant side. Crunchy and bright, this beautiful medium-bodied wine is full of red fruit, baking spices and earth, with a brambly undertone.
This Carignan is harvested late for deeper color, more tannins and higher alcohol. The fruit was partially foot-crushed and fermented 100% whole cluster, with additional foot-crushing during fermentation to enhance color and texture. After 10 days on skins, the wine was pressed to tank to finish fermentation, then aged in neutral oak barriques and a puncheon.
Indigenous yeast fermentation, minimal SO₂ (10 ppm) at bottling, and no additives preserve its authenticity. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this Carignan reflects purity and depth. 200 cases produced.
Based in Sonoma, California, Rosalind Reynolds founded Emme Wines (named after her grandmother) in 2018 after years in the industry alongside the likes of Les Capriades, Martha Stoumen, and Pax (where she is also the assistant winemaker). Rosalind focuses on "old school" California varietals, like Carignan, Colombard, Merlot and Zinfandel, as well as uncommon grapes like Abouriou, Valdiguie and Muscat Vert, all farmed organically and sustainably, and she makes wine without additives and minimal intervention.
