Braida "La Monella" Frizzante Barbera del Monferrato DOC 2025
Bright ruby-red color with purple highlights, lively, lightly sparkling. Fragrant on the nose, explosive with intense hints of red fruit and sour cherry. Extraordinarily lively, dry on the palate and full of luscious dark berries. Very fresh, "“vivacious and irrepressible," good body and soft texture. Treat this as you would any red sparkling wine and drink with a chill. Excellent with cured meats and oily olives.
"La Monella" is a sparkling red that represents the family history of the Braida winery, which only produces Barbera. The first grapes for this wine grew in Grandma Caterina's vineyard, and in the cellar, Grandpa wrote "La Monella" in chalk on the barrel of his most exuberant Barbera.
100% Barbera grown in predominantly young soils with an average density of 5,000 plants per hectare. The vinification process involves ten days of maceration on the skins, followed by maturation for at least four months in steel tanks with secondary fermentation in an autoclave, followed by a brief aging period in the bottle for approximately two months.
Located in Rocchetta Tanaro in Piedmont, Braida is an iconic family-run winery that revolutionized the reputation of the Barbera grape. Founded in 1961 by Giacomo Bologna, it is famous for being the first to age Barbera in French barriques, elevating it from a simple table wine to a world-class, internationally acclaimed masterpiece.
