Garnet in color, the Château De La Croix Medoc Cru Bourgeois 2018 is an earthy and complex Bordeaux blend of 50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The nose is fruity, flowery and reveals a concentration of blackberries, violet, lily, bark, shitake mushrooms and notes of fresh violet. The lovely, fresh palate offers notes of fresh cherry, raspeberry, cassis, rose and fresh violet, as well as discreet hints of nutmeg, tobacco and racy minerality. Medium-bodied, chewy, minty, open, with an olive and herbal edge in the red berry, and currant finish. The tannins are well-built. A fine sapidity in the persistant finish.

Vinified in French oak barrels for 12 months, then aged 2 to 15 years depending on the vintage, followed by 12 months in the bottle.

The 31 hectare estate, located in the heart of the Médoc peninsula in a small village 7km from Lesparre, has been in the same family since 1870, and is run today by Stéphanie Francisco, great great granddaughter of the original owner. The vines, averaging 35 years old and planted at high density (7,500 vines per hectare), are managed with extreme care and attention to detail.
