Domaine Christian Moreau is a benchmark producer of classic, mineral-driven Chablis. This bottling is clear pale lemon and lime with a lovely, very open nose. Beautifully fresh on the palate, with lemon pith, apples, orange blossoms, wild herbs and hints of crushed stones. Surprisingly chiselled given the seeming richness of the nose, finishes with lemon meringue pie. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and tense, showing depth with a mineral-laced focus, fine balance and length. Complete and delicious. Extremely charming.

The Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils is settled in the heart of Chablis, near the Grands Crus. At each step of the all winemaking process, they work to respect the terroir, the vines and the grapes, in order to produce wines of great purity, characteristic of Chablis. In the vineyard: plowing, organic fertilizers, zero pesticides since 2004, and the daily work to care for the vines and prevent diseases. 100% manual harvesting and grape selection before pressing. Fermentation is done only with natural yeasts, and predominantly in stainless steel, with minimal controlled use of oak barrels, in order to get the best expression from each wine.

The Moreau family has been rooted in the heart of Chablis since 1814. At that time Jean Joseph Moreau founded the wine-merchant trading firm. During some ownership changes of the company in the 1970s and '80s, the Moreau family managed to retain ownership of their vast and important vineyard holdings. Then, with the 2002 vintage, Christian Moreau regained his right to produce wines sourced from the family vineyards and market the wines under his own label. Today, Christian's son, Fabien Moreau, the sixth generation of the family, is the winemaker of this beautiful domaine which produces exclusively Chablis wines. The Domaine holds a total of about 12.5 hectares with vines averaging 45 years old and obtained organic certification in the 2010 vintage. The logo represents the Statue of Saint Martin, which can be seen in front of a church near the property.
