A classic Chardonnay from the small, almost unknown Vézélay appellation, located south of Auxerre and west of Dijon, and actually still part of Chablis. A very solid yellow-fruity nose of yellow apple, pear, Galia melon, a hint of hay meadow and delicate limestone. On the palate, a very soft texture, creamy fruit extract without any wood or barrel influences. The acidity is present, but charming in the background, well-behaved in a truly positive sense, very harmonious and easy to drink and a pleasant finish.

"La Châtelaine" is a Chardonnay that is both incisive and lacy. When Vézelay was awarded the appellation title in 2017, it is partly thanks to the undeniable elegance of wines like this one, and to the small revolution led by the Montanet family.

In 1987, Jean and Catherine Montanet created Domaine de la Cadette with the help of friends and family. Cadette, or the youngest child, is a nod to Catherine, whose family’s vineyards contribute to the domaine’s production. Today, Jean and Catherine farm 13 hectares of vineyards on silty and shallow clay. They have been farming organically since 1999, receiving their certification in 2002.

The wine was direct pressed and fermentated with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation was allowed to completion. Aged 8-10 months on lees in stainless steel and wooden vats. Unfined, unfiltered, with a small addition of SO2.
