Domaine Pélaquié Tavel Rosé 2025
Forget everything you think you know about rosé. If your mental picture is a pale, delicate summer sipper, Tavel rewrites the rulebook, and Domaine Pélaquié makes one of its finest examples. This is a bold, dry, structured rosé with real depth, the kind of pink wine that holds its own at the dinner table instead of fading into the background. Smooth, generous and fruity, with an amber-shaded color of incredible intensity, it shows hints of topaz-colored reflections on aging.
Known for the first rosé of France, and of the Cotes-du-Rhone, Tavel is the only appellation in France dedicated entirely to rosé, and it has been famous for it since the 14th century, when Tavel rosés graced the Pope's table in Avignon. Domaine Pélaquié's offering is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault from the steep, sun-soaked limestone vineyards of Coteaux de Lauzes and made in the traditional saignée (bleeding) method. The grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed, then macerated for a few hours before being pressed, yielding a famously deep, intense and full-bodied rosé.
Domaine Pélaquié is a 16th-century family estate in Côtes-du-Rhône that has been passed down father to son for generations. The current son in charge, Luc Pélaquié, has modernized the winery, all the while protecting the traditions of his ancestors. He practices sustainable viticulture, certified by HVE, on his 100 hectares of vines located in the Côtes-du-Rhône, Laudun, Tavel and Lirac.
