A quirky “kitchen sink” blend of grapes from different vineyard (23% Zinfandel, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 16% Syrah, 8% Alicante Bouschet, 5% Lagrein, 5% Corvina, and 4% Cinsaut), this dry red is a delicious hodgepodge. Vinified separately, some are whole-cluster fermented, and others undergo carbonic. The wine is a full-bodied, easy drinking, fruit-forward expression of the Paso Robles region. The fruit is decidedly black/blue in profile, while the tannins are firm yet well-integrated. Luxurious notes of blueberries, blackberries, smoked meat and spice mingle with hints of licorice and menthol and a touch of oak. Sustainably grown.

Field Recordings is 40-year old winemaker Andrew Jones’ personal catalog of the people and places he values most. Spending his days as a vine nursery fieldman planning and planting vineyards for farmers all over California, Andrew is sometimes offered small lots of their best fruit on the side. Having stood in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast, he has a keen eye for diamonds in the rough: sites that are unknown or under-appreciated but hold enormous untapped potential. As friendships are made and opportunities are embraced, Andrew produces small quantities of soulful wine from these unusual, quiet vineyards.
