Indaba Chenin Blanc 2024
Chenin Blanc is South Africa’s most widely planted varietal and the Cape’s signature white. This fresh, crisp and easy-drinking version is vibrantly infused with tropical aromas such as white peach and grapefruit, flavors of honeyed pear, golden delicious apple and luscious tropical fruit, and an attractive minerality. The mouthfeel shows good volume and freshness.
The grapes were sourced from a single vineyard site in Swartland comprising mainly of lower yielding bush vines. The soil types are a combination of Malmesbury shale with some loamy soil on the high ground and sandy loam down on the slopes, scattered with fertile Hutton soils. Vines experience a classic Mediterranean climate with low rainfall in summer, cool afternoon breezes and cold winters.
The bush vines underwent a manual harvest. There was a traditional settling prior to fermentation which was maintained at controlled temperatures between 57-61°F in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation the wines were left on their lees for approximately five months to enhance complexity.
Indaba (pronounced in-dah-bah) is a word that has widespread use throughout South Africa and means "to come together." It is the Zulu word for “a meeting of the minds.” Embodying that spirit, Indaba's carefully crafted, quality wines are welcoming, delicious and ideal for sharing.
Leading the world in sustainability, South Africa’s Winelands are primarily considered to be the greenest wine-producing region on earth. Several organizations work with the South African wine industry to ensure conservation and sustainability remain a top priority among wine producers. The look and spirit of Indaba reflect both South Africa’s position as a leader in sustainable production and the influence of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
