Julian Haart's star keeps rising, and "1,000L" is the bottling that put him on the map. Named for the thousand-liter old oak fuder it's raised in, and made in tiny quantities from a young vigneron who apprenticed with Mosel royalty like Egon Muller and Klaus-Peter Keller. “That’s like learning to draw under da Vinci and Picasso,” says importer Vom Boden, in terms of German winemakers.

Haart farms steep slate slopes in the Mosel around Wintrich and Piesport, and his Rieslings are wines of electric tension and crystalline detail. This is his entry into that world -- dry-leaning, weightless and humming with energy. Brisk, tense with high-toned citrus and good minerality. It's the kind of bottle that makes you understand why people obsess over Mosel Riesling.

This is legally Trocken and sourced from 25-year-old vines in the Grand Cru Goldtröpfchen vineyard. Julian said 2025 was a perfect vintage for this wine. It feels serious but has stunning balance with three grams of residual sugar. This vintage shows "für Lottie" on the label as a nod to Collin Wagner's daughter Lottie who was born in 2025.

Julian’s winemaking journey goes hand in hand with his rigorous focus of continuing to better himself. His first plot was adjacent to the grand cru site Ohligsberg. He then continued to purchase more vines in Goldtröpfchen and Schubertslay, both considered “grand cru” sites. Included in one of these sites is a bit of 100-year-old vines that are ungrafted.
