La Magia Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2024

La Magia Rosso di Montalcino sits in the context of precision and patience. With floral notes on the nose, the palate is smooth and juicy with a medium body, while a gentle grip of tannins adds structure to the finish. It shows flavors of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and orange peel, with rose petals and a faint herbal lift. The fruit is bright and finely etched, shaped by altitude and freshness rather than weight.

From the cooler northern slopes of Montalcino, La Magia works from altitude, where vineyards sit at around 400 to 450 metres above sea level. Facing southeast, the site combines sandy soils with limestone and clay, helping the vines retain balance through the dry Tuscan seasons. A subtle volcanic influence runs through the subsoil, often showing itself as a distinct mineral line in the wines.

The estate is led by Fabian and his family, who have built their approach around restraint rather than intervention. Production is deliberately limited, with Brunello only released in the strongest vintages, reflecting a philosophy of responding to nature rather than forcing it. Sustainability has been embedded for decades, from early solar installations to a fully self-sufficient photovoltaic system to make the cellar fully self-sufficient in energy, and the vineyard work follows biodynamic principles (certified since 2012) with a strong focus on soil and plant health. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention in the cellar.
