Pure, juicy and joyful. On the nose, it is a sea of hibiscus and raspberry with undertones of roasted coffee and wet rock. The palate is intense and fleshy with flavors of black plum and pomegranate and a long textural finish. Fresh raspberry, pomegranate, crushed violet and a whisper of black pepper with zero grip and maximum drinkability. Glou glou is French for "glug glug" — and that's exactly what happens. The perfect antidote to long summer days and the heat of the grill.

"Glou Glou" is the flagship cuvée from Las Jaras Wines, founded by Joel Burt and Eric Wareheim (yes, that Eric Wareheim) in partnership with some of California's most forward-thinking natural winemakers. Joel and Eric say this wine is meant for the "circle foods," pizza and burgers! Most of the grapes underwent carbonic maceration, the classic fermentation method of the Beaujolais, which means that fermentation happened inside of berries themselves, causing them to explode in happy, boozy ecstasy. That’s how you’ll feel when you drink this wine — it dances in your mouth.

The 2024 vintage is made of 53% Zinfandel, 34% Carignan, 7% Petite Sirah and 6% Grenache. Sourced from old-vine, organically farmed Mendocino County vineyards, the grapes undergo carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration to produce an ultra-bright, low-tannin red with vivid fruit and barely any alcohol. Bottled young and unfined, with minimal sulfur. Las Jaras has become a cult favorite in the natural wine world for making genuinely great wine without taking itself too seriously — and Glou Glou is the purest expression of that philosophy, built entirely for immediate pleasure, zero pretension and maximum fun. Best served cold, straight from the fridge, with absolutely no ceremony required.

Las Jaras is a labor of friendship between long-time California winemaker Joel Burt and comedian Eric Wareheim (of Master of None, Tim & Eric fame). Their growers are practicing or certified organic. The winery name (“The Arrows” in Spanish) comes from one of the lottery cards that Joel’s Mexican coworkers would leave behind at his old table grape farm job.

The goal for Las Jaras is to make delicious wine that has tons of energy and balance. They want their wine to be vibrant, delicate and supple, while also being food friendly and easy for anyone to enjoy. The wines are intended to reflect the unique terroir of the vineyards using minimal intervention, so you can taste their natural, rhythmic expression.
