Las Jaras "Superbloom" Rosé 2024

Named after the wildflowers that erupt in the desert after a wetter-than-normal rainy season, "Superbloom" was made to showcase the unique qualities of Love Ranch Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. A co-ferment of 51% Chenin Blanc, 32% Grenache, 12% Carignan and 5% Viognier, the red grapes give this wine a spicy nose and plenty of texture, while the white grapes toss in summer fruit with beautiful, salted watermelon and rhubarb notes. Crisp, clean and mineral on the finish. A superbloom is a sign that winter is over, and warmer, happier days are ahead.

Las Jaras' original wild idea with this wine was to co-ferment red and white Rhône varieties from a single vineyard, then keep it completely natural by adding nothing and taking away nothing in the cellar. This wine will usually contain half to two-thirds white grapes and the balance red. They call it a "California Table Wine," but don't be fooled by the humble name. "Superbloom" is complex and utterly unique.

Las Jaras is a labor of friendship between long-time California winemaker Joel Burt and comedian Eric Wareheim (of Master of None, Tim & Eric fame). Their growers are practicing or certified organic. The winery name (“The Arrows” in Spanish) comes from one of the lottery cards that Joel’s Mexican coworkers would leave behind at his old table grape farm job.

The goal for Las Jaras is to make delicious wine that has tons of energy and balance. They want their wine to be vibrant, delicate and supple, while also being food friendly and easy for anyone to enjoy. The wines are intended to reflect the unique terroir of the vineyards using minimal intervention, so you can taste their natural, rhythmic expression.
