Le Pont des Anglais is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Colombard and 20% Vermentino. On the nose, orchard fruit, Granny Smith apples and crunchy nectarines mingle with a faint, herbaceous breeze of wild garrigue, wet stone and delicate floral notes. On the palate, tension strikes a precarious balance between the Sauvignon Blanc's vibrant, electric acidity and the slightly broader, textural weight of the Vermentino. Flavors of tart white peach and lemon rind dominate, while a subtle flinty minerality anchors the mid-palate. This is sharply focused. An impeccably clean finish leaves a lingering impression of crushed rocks and saline sea spray that evokes the rugged Mediterranean coastline.

Brothers Guilhem and Hugo Fraysse treat their Languedoc vines with absolute reverence, and this wine stems from a singular agricultural vision. Le Pont des Anglais is a unique parcel where they grow Sauvignon Blanc in sandy-clay soils. This area, situated at the bottom of the slope, has a great deal of minerality. To create a more compelling mosaic, the brothers bridge this taut backbone with Colombard and Vermentino cultivated on the porous tufa limestone of the Lez valley. After direct press of the grapes, the brothers ferment the juice cleanly in stainless steel vats with native yeasts, producing a wine that refuses to mask its origin behind heavy oak or cellar manipulation. This is sheer liquid energy. The resulting blend offers crucial insight into the Mediterranean's dynamic, sun-drenched terroirs without feeling heavy or labored.

Acidity dictates the tempo here. Eight months aging in stainless steel preserves the fruit's inherent vitality, allowing the distinct grape varieties to harmonize rather than relentlessly compete. While many southern French whites lean into opulent, cumbersome weight, this iteration firmly champions a razor-sharp, saline edge that demands absolute attention. It wakes up the palate immediately. Those limestone soils translate directly into the glass, delivering an almost architectural structure that perfectly frames the ripe orchard fruit.

Guilhem and Hugo’s story begins over a century ago, when their ancestors settled as farm workers near the extinct volcano Mont Ferrier. In 1905, after the phylloxera crisis, Lucien Fraysse planted the family’s first vines. For generations, the Fraysse family expanded their vineyard holdings while living off the land. Guilhem and Hugo took the reins in 2020. Committed to organic farming and ecological responsibility, they farm their 10 hectares organically with extra care -- no herbicides, no chemical fertilizers, only native yeasts, and further, ensuring all their suppliers are eco-conscious.
