North Valley Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021
There's both brooding dark fruit on the nose along with that hint of earthy wood spice. The wine is brilliantly purple magenta in the glass. The succulent and savory fruit glides across the palate with a touch of tart red berry fruit to add grip and texture. Fresh and zesty, with notes of ripe raspberries, licorice, tea leaf and moist earth. Juicy and succulent with medium body and firm tannins. Delicious dark cherries with toasty, spiced character to close. This is a balanced and supple wine, with a silky mouthfeel. Big time "yum factor" with this one.
Long time winemaking veteran James Cahill learned his craft working at such esteemed estates as Beaux Freres, Elk Cove, and Soter Vineyards before finally venturing out on his own. The North Valley winery is the embodiment of his years of learning the many nooks and crannies of the Willamette Valley. The "Compass" bottling represents a collection of select sites of sustainably farmed vineyards in the northern part of the Willamette Valley.
