Serraboella is a structured, aromatic Barbaresco from the Neive subregion of Piedmont, offering notes of cherry, blood orange, cassis, rose tea and pressed violets, with firm, chalky tannins and a polished, long finish. Balanced hints of mineral and pencil shaving tie in nicely into the wine’s silky tannins and taut structure. It is highly regarded for displaying immense depth, tension and energy.

Serraboella is the most famous cru in the Southern Neive, a long hill exposed to West that gently bends towards South while getting steeper. Serraboella is the only hill that combines Serravalliano and Tortoniano soils. It's a rare combination of soil exalted by the South-West exposure. The synergy between soil and climate in this unique plot is straight-forward, aging potential is combined with an immediate expressiveness.

Farmed organically, with minimal use of a natural sulphur and copper compound, harvested exclusively by hand. The grapes are all pressed and destemmed, fermented and macerated from three to six weeks in stainless steel, before finishing maceration with the ancient technique of submerging the cap. The wine is transferred to wood barrels at the end of winter and aged 1.5 to 2 years.

Langhe growers since 1796, Paitin’s distinctiveness resides in the expression that the Pasquero-Elia family has established within their lands. Surviving wars and severe weather through eight generations, they have grown an everlasting bond. Perseverance blessed the Grand Cru vineyard of Serraboella: the Sorì Paitin, since 1893 to become one of the traditional expressions of Neive’s Barbaresco.
