Produttori di Manduria "Alice" Verdeca Salento IGT 2025
A southern Italian gem! "Alice" is a whtie wine made from 100% Verdeca, a lesser-known grape variety primarily found in Puglia, in Southern Italy. The nose is a coastal breeze, showing surprising aromas of white flowers and cedar mixed with citrus and fruity hints, such as pear and pineapple. The seaside palate is fruity, juicy and slightly saline, with notes of lemon, honeydew, green apple, dragonfruit, hints of lime skin, dried leaves and stony pebbles. Light bodied and easy drinking with vibrant acidity and a silky texture, leading to a gentle finish with a subtle minerality.
This wine is made with temperature-controlled fermentation and aged in stainless steel vats to preserve its freshness. "Alice" means anchovy in Italian.
Produttori di Manduria is the oldest active wine cooperative in Puglia, founded in 1932. Known as the "Maestri in Primitivo," it comprises around 400 small-scale growers who hand-craft wines focused on the region's native grapes. They also operate a fascinating on-site Museum of Primitivo Wine Culture.
