Southold Farm & Cellars "Therapy For Liars" Field Blend 2022

A quirky, interesting and energetic field blend with crunchy red fruit, tart acidity and earth. 36% Garnacha, 34% Mataro and 30% Merlot. 

Field blends are some of the greatest expressions of vineyard site and vintage. Varietal characteristics integrate early in the process lending to an extremely smooth, complex profiles. The 2021 vintage saw a bit more hang time, so this vintage is definitely showcases the most depth and richness yet. Give this wine a chance to breathe to unlock the salted cherry compote, edible flowers and wet slate. Decant 1-2 hrs.

Each year, "Therapy for Liars" is a field blend consisting of Mataro, Grenache, and Merlot meaning all three varietals were picked at the same time and fermented together. These grapes were picked on August 12th and underwent primary fermentation in concrete. The wine was pressed to neutral French oak where it aged for ten months prior to bottling.

Only 168 cases produced. No more of this wine will be made, as the winemakers closed their winery in Fredericksburg last year and moved to Bourdeaux, France. Get it while it lasts!
