Altano Douro Branco opens with a bright straw-yellow hue and expressive aromas of citrus blossom, honeysuckle, white peach and tropical fruits like pineapple and lychee, with a delicate hint of banana. The palate is bone-dry and refreshing, balancing green apple, grapefruit and zesty citrus with subtle herbal notes and a touch of minerality. Lively acidity gives the wine excellent definition and carries it to a crisp, clean finish with a delicate green tea note. Produced in Portugal’s Douro Valley, this blend brings together native white grape varieties including Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Moscatel Galego and Rabigato. The grapes are sourced from higher-elevation vineyards at Quinta da Fonte Branca near Lamego as well as selected growers in the Alijó and Favaios areas. Cooler temperatures at these elevations help preserve the grapes’ aromatic intensity and natural acidity, resulting in a wine that emphasizes freshness, balance and the region’s distinctive mineral character.
