Tenuta Buon Tempo "Oliveto P.56" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2019
"A graceful and elegant style for this riserva. The nose is focused on dried flowers, restrained red cherries, incense and orange-peel aromas. The attack is supple with full body, soulful character and bracing acidity. Firm, thick, yet ripe tannins with a chalky finish and savory length. Drink or hold." -- James Suckling
"Warm, earth tones of underbrush, crushed rock, tar and spices are first on the nose before plum and black cherries come out with a hint of orange liqueur. The palate is dusty with tannins but more vibrant cherry flavor and a salty, bitter cocoa finish." -- Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast
Grapes farmed organically and harvested manually. Temperature-controlled vinification in stainless steel and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Four weeks maceration. Maturation for three years in large (20 and 35 hl) Slavonian oak casks. Cleared naturally by settling in stainless steel, then left to rest for a minimum of six months in bottle before released onto the market.
Buon Tempo embodies the result of an exciting encounter between a Swedish wine enthusiast and a fantastic terroir. This fortuitous union gives life to an estate that seeks to perpetuate the grand tradition of Montalcino wines by aiming for the highest possible quality. The Brunello, as the emblem of the estate, expresses the great potential of this region in terms of complexity, concentration and elegance. Vinified with the utmost respect for tradition, it charms with its fruity notes in youth, which then evolve with spicy undertones.
The central part of the estate is known as Podere Oliveto, the first historic references to which date back to 1941. This farm was managed, like all those in the area during that period, according to the sharecropping system, and was devoted almost exclusively to the cultivation of olive trees. The first vineyard was planted in 1994 in parcel of land no. 56, and this still today constitutes the most “ancient” of those being farmed. In 2012, from their very first visit, Per and Janet fell in love with this place and could envisage its potential. Per purchased the property and gave it the name “Tenuta Buon Tempo” as a tribute to the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
