Trapi del Bueno "Hand Made" Chardonnay 2020

Veering Chablis in style, this energizing Chardonnay from Chile’s northern Patagonia region has no oakiness and is lighter than expected, with apple and pear flavors, high acididty and mineral complexity. Golden yellow in the glass, the nose offers a layer of fennel, green apple and subtle cedar aromas. Skinny, with vibrant acidity and a voluminous flow, it’s both tense and delicate. The dichotomy between ripe aromas and flavors and tense, sharp acidity is a delight.

Trapi del Bueno winery and vineyard is the passion project of two life-long friends, winemaker Rodrigo Romero and agronomist Luis Moller. With a small production and 14 hectares of vines planted in the coastal hills of Osorno, this is true cool climate Chile.

Trapi uses a combination of vineyards where 80% is the Mendoza clone, which in that cold area of southern Chile has very low yields of 60–80-gram clusters that give very good concentration. Fermented and aged in used barrels for 14 months. Organically, sustainably grown, vegan, minimal sulfites.
