Two Shepherds Clairette Blanche 2023
This is Two Shepherd's first ever Clairette Blanche, a rare Rhône varietal grown on less than ten acres in California. Why "blanche" instead of "blanc?" It is one of the few French grapes whose grammatical gender is feminine, thus Blanche. Unctuous, textural. Aromas of pineapple and key lime present on the nose. The mouth feel is crisp but weighty with minty freshness. The finish is smooth and clean. A truly unique wine to explore. Only five barrels (125 cases) produced.
Two Shepherds focuses on Rhône and rare, uncommon varieties, often from the only few acres available in California. While their total production is small, the offerings are vast. Nicknamed “insane master of small lots,” winemaker William Allen crafts abotu 15 different wines each vintage, including some that are only 1-2 barrels. Their old-world style, free from manipulation, allows for the ture expression of the variety, vintage and vineyard.
